Navarasa Series

It is time for a new venture and new series of posts. I am calling it the Navarasa series as we are going to explore the nine "emotions"(the closest translation) of life. When we look at our own lives, its filled with emotions. Each moment the emotions change and we fondly hold on to them however complex they may be. For most people it is very easy for to get convinced about something if they are able to emotionally relate to it. Over these years, through education, through modernization and other things around us, there has been so much development on the intellectual side that there seems to be a need for a "push" on the emotional side as well. Indians have their own unique ways of enhancing this dimension of life through bhajans, harikathas or simply crying out loud.

In this series I plan to explore, through stories, each of the navaras by taking examples from divine manifestations.. those who were epitomes of the rasas. Why not contemporary examples? There is so much beauty, depth and multi-dimensionality in the tales of the divine that no amount of narration will suffice. Relating to contemporary examples is left to the reader.
