Velliangiri also known as the Kailash of the south is a great source of energy and inspiration for those who trek up the mountains. It is believed that many many ancient sages have walked across these ranges and left their energies for us to imbibe.
We started from home at 5.15 am and started the trek arnd 8.30 am. Initially the mountains were a source of "Perspiration"..:-)... it was a tough climb up the hills..
we had thought, all of us will just walk together , talk about our child hood days blah blah blah.. but "walk and talk " just did not work out there... it was a vertical descent with hardly any path..we were told about elephants and how we need to act incase an elephant approached. But looking at the mountains, we realized that it would be easier to surrender than try to run downhill :-)..
We reached the top at 11.00 am. Each one had their own experience. Some were bitten by leeches..some were "frequent fallers", some were the real tough guys who managed with ease. I am somewhere in the middle. People when they look at me cannot control the temptation of asking "mam! will you be able to manage?"..grrr I have been walking all these 30 years grrrr!!..
Most of them had a bath in the beautiful falls. the water was icy cold. We spent about 3 hrs there and started walking back. Climbing down was tougher. I found it easy to sit down and slide rather than walking. The frequent faller proved it again. By the time we reached home it was 10.00 pm.
We emptied half a bottle of "tiger balm". We lied down with 3 feet gaps in between coz we were sure that there would be lot of "footballing" coz of the "pleasurable" pain in the whole body.
I am giving a very poor description of the trek for only one reason .. GO THERE AND EXPERIENCE IT!!
